for 1917, one of 150,000 purchased by the German military for use during World War One, with 5 1/2in. reproved barrel, short extractor, 1000 metre rear-sight, milled frame without trade-mark, new style safe, 28-groove walnut grips, both grips with deeply incised '9' character infilled with traces of red paint, lanyard ring at heel (ring absent), strong traces of original finish
